Budget 2011 is being presented the Dail on 7th December 2010.

Will the Finance Act be passed by a majority?

In any case, I expect a General Election in early 2011.

When the Election is called, Cowan will be overthrown as leader and be replaced by Brian Lenihan.

Lenihan's leadership should be responsible for a bounce in the polls for FF and save at least 15 seats.

After the Election Lenihan will also be dispensed with and a new leader will be elected as FF settle into opposition.

Or they might banish all the senior/cabinet ministers save a few and go into coalition with FG as the junior partner to keep Labour locked out.

That's why they invited Lenny to speak at Michael Collin's memorial.
Lenny won't stick around long due to illness, then will be replaced by Micheal Martin.

The clans will unite in 2012 and time will end, just as the Mayan calendar predicted.

    Seems ridiculous doesn't it?
Then again, 3 years ago, we were in the top 5 richest countries in the world.

    I'm ruling out nothing!

Two scenarios frighten me. One is that labour will be in power and they won't make any hard decisions. The second is that there will be a coalition where Sinn Fein become the equivalent of the greens as a coalition partner.

Only one scenario worries me after the budget, all others I can (or will, somewhat reluctantly...) adapt too.
That scenario is the one the government I feel are most worried about too in that they have a real fear there may well be a significant popular uprising against the changes they're going to impose on the people of the country, or more so to cutback on services to certain sections of society than others (possible drastic cuts being made to the social welfare or pensions for instance).

I'm sure it would be standard practice to train for this nature anyway but one has to wonder as to why both the Gardaí and some sections of the Irish defence forces have been undergoing riot/civil disturbance training recently - too much of a coincidence imo. I would feel they're being prepared to act to quell any hint of civil uprising or mass protests against cuts the government will impose in the December budget.
The talk and rumours of riots being prepared for the budget day bare no reality on the ground, so I feel that too is somewhat of a reverse propaganda tool - instil in people a fear that if they do plan to protest peacefully, their protests might be lined up alongside groupings of people intent on rioting, which no evidence of exists, other than random graffiti here and there - so therefore further toning down any possible planned peaceful protests by making some feel they would be in danger, or that they may end up involved in criminal acts.
Irish people in general have been extremely, and somewhat very worryingly, very reserved in their protestations thus far. The government may very well be aware of putting forward the straw that will invariably break the camels back in the December budget and therefore fear the unleashing of all that pent up anger and discontentment among it's own citizens.

*IF* any protests are being organised for budget day, I truly hope such protests are for the government to stand down and hold an immediate general election and that opposition parties, all of them, would support such a move and protest for same.

I swear to god, the sun, the moon and the stars though that if people in this country ever vote FF back into government again, I will absolutely relinquish my citizenship of this country and forever hold its people in contempt.
