Hi lads how much would a 1973 mercedes 230ce be worth. Its in excellent condition inside and out. It just needs some bodywork on the bonnet. It has been in a shed for a long time under cover and dry. Are these cars worth much?

I'll move this to Classic Cars, you'll get better answers there.

Ah another classic turns up in a shed in seemingly good order. I reckon some of the guys on this forum will be secretly jealous! Are you sure the sills, arches, undercarriage etc. are sound though? Just seems almost too good to be true that there is only work needed on the bonnet.

I just gave it quick look, and took the dust of the window to have a nose in the inside. It seems very clean, but i shall see it again in the next week and i will have a look for rust in the places you say.( im a vintage tractor man not a car man). Yeah i lifted the bonnet to have a look at the engine as it was open because the bonnet is a little twisted. Are they worth much?

I can't really say cormywormy as am just an admirer of classic cars myself. Wouldn't be completely up to date with prices or that, only aware of guide prices for some models and prices are a bit all over the shop too of late...The price of classic cars are taking as much of a hammering as anything else really. Real problem being people generally don't have money to pursue their hobbies and interests and buy them like they used to a few years back. I would think a 1973 Mercedes in good order would be worth a few quid but sorry I can't even give you a ballpark figure. Donedeal not too bad reference point though

To be honest, probably not much in the current climate.

If it has been laid up for a few years, then there is the potential of all sorts of brake, clutch, steering problems due to siezing ....

Make sure it has fresh petrol and oil, it turns by hand freely before trying to start it ....

Hi OP, theres no such thing as a 73 230CE:D
If its a 73 coupe with "upright headlamps" it'll be a a W114 250C, 250CE, or 280CE , check the bulkhead very carefully for rot, take a look at this W115 saloon being restored to get an a idea
    Basket case Merc

..........agree with everything said above. These cars rot from the inside out. Carpets can be lifted out so check for dampness and crusty bits and dont be afraid to give them a good poke underneath.

Dont be fooled by silly asking prices. A really good W114 coupe can be bought for 6k and bad ones are free !
