Budget 2010 - will gambling be affected?

    Sorry if this has been discussed already but as this budget will be "the worst in the state's history" are we looking at a gambling tax?

    I wouldn't be surprised. They doubled it the year before last or last year didn't they?

    They were talking about a 2% tax on winnings being included in the budget. It would close a lot of small bookies in the long run because i reckon they would absorb the tax rather than pass it on to the punter. Which would make sense in order to keep people's business and not drive them online and use sites outside our tax reach.

    They should leave it alone in my opinion.

    The risk of companies physically moving offshore should not be taken lightly.
