Had the chance of driving one tonite, a 2005 E200K 1.8 auto sports.

Went out from 8pm to 3am tonite, drove 156km and went through €25 worth of petrol.

Its a nice car but as for working one every nite 12 hours at a time it aint upto much, i always was getting a feeling somthing was gonna break it also had a squeky drivers seat.

I'll be quite happy driving my 1994 Toyota Carina after it, not taking away from the Merc, but they just aint upto the same taxi abuse of a older Toyota.

As you are going to have to change at some point, is the E200 somthing you'd consider?

Thought you'd be looking at a diesel

If it's going to be a taxi I'd be looking at something with a large diesel engine, pre 2008. Big road tax bills for the general public would keep the value lower than a smaller engine, but as a cab it shouldn't worry you.

Thinking something like a 525d with the 3.0Litre engine. Same road tax bill as a 530d and 535d, but without the serious power behind it. An E270/280 will probably fall in to the same boat - if you can find one.

Why would you consider buying an 11 year old car for a taxi. I thought they were bringing in a law that taxis had to be 10 years or younger. I"ll keep quiet about the 94 carina
