Car speakers cutting in an out?

So I had the cd player turned up a bit too loud today:D ....But then I noticed the drivers door speakers started cutting in and out with a lot of crackling!:(
If I turn up the volume it will stop for a while but arrives back when I turn it down to a comfortable level again!
I googled the problem and a lot of answers seem to point to the wiring connector between the door and pillar, and some sort of electrical grease?..Just seems to much of a coincidence that it happened on the only day I've ever turned it up to a high volume?

Its only the drivers door, the other 3 are perfect...thankfully!:)

    Cheers lads!

You might have damaged the speaker cone by turning the volume too high. Careful or you'll blow the speaker altogether (happened to my corolla when I put fad on rear & balance to the right & turned the volume up.... :( )

Its possible, but would that not have damaged both sides?

I have the same problem I have to get to the bottom of. My guess is I've got to take a look at the cable where it runs into the drivers side door, but havn't got around to it yet :o.

Already checked the speaker connections themsleves and the connections at the back of the radio.

Would this be an Audi too?
I had my door wiring re-done recently, got the wires replaced with heavier ones going through from pillar to door!
Hardly those, so I'm guessing a loose connection on the loom?
Funny thing is though, that if I turn it up its perfect!:o

    If only :)

VW Polo, as I said not looked yet but the door wiring does look like it might have some from of connector in the door pillar - here's hoping.

Always seems to be the drivers side door that goes - the one that gets used most so most movement of the wires. Going over a good bump normally fixes it so its got to be a loose wire somewhere.

    I second that!

From a faulty head unit, to door wiring the first time! Now the second time!!

I've the exact same problem with the speakers in my Escort (factory speakers). I made the mistake by turning them up way too high by accident and then playing some Metallica! :D Now the passenger side front speaker comes on and off.

It doesnt have to. You can have different things going on on the left and right speakers and what played at that instance at that volume was just too much for that particular speaker.
