    Hi All,
Question is regarding a normal flask that keeps liquid hot or cold as required.

Could someone tell me what the inside of a flask is made of please. I am referring to that shiny silver lining that the liquid is contained in. I remember one breaking years ago and it looked like glass. Is it glass painted silver or is it a very fragile and shiny thin piece of metal.

    Thanks all.

I think it's made up of two layers of silvered glass with a vacuum between them. More information here http://www.bookrags.com/research/vacuum-bottle-woi/

Nowadays you can also get ones with metal inserts that are unbreakable.

    Thank you Dizzy,
That site was very useful. I was concerned that the silver stuff was aluminium. I don't think it is.
    Thanks again.
