You will really have to go through london or amsterdam to get cheaper flights as nobody flies from ireland only etihed from dublin but it can be seriously expensive, what i did a few months ago i booked a flight on ebooker.com from london-bkk and i got a return flight with kingfisher for 380 sterling then just booked a flight from cork-london for 80 euro, other than that i would say the cheapest are air asia from stansted but they fly to kuala lumpur but u can always get a cheap flight from KL to BKK.

Travelsupermarket.com is a great price comparison site. Had some great deals on there in the past.

China airlines and qatar airlines seem to often have good deals.

Am looking into flights myself as I am thinking of heading over myself sometime in Feb/March. I have done a lot of research into it and there is no real super cheap flights per say only less expensive ones.

Etihad had an offer from Dublin to Bangkok for €690 which was very good but it has since vanished and gone up to €820 :(

BA & Qantas are in the region of €840 which includes Aer Lingus from Ireland to Heathrow as a through booking. This would be a direct 12hour flight to Bangkok and in my book is easier than stopping over in the middle east.

The cheapest offer is with Kingfisher Airlines from Heathrow via Mubai (outbound) and Delhi (homebound) for £500 which is about €590 / €610 depending on the sterling exchange rate. Aer Lingus are €130 return to Heathrow as you'd have to make your own way there to connect with Kingfisher.

Alternatively if you wanted to go shoestring you could fly Ryanair into Stansted and then fly Air Asia to Kuala Lumpur before getting another flight with Air Asia to Bangkok or the other thai regions. This would only save about €100 over the Kingfisher price and would about the same amount of hassle.

I will just bite the bullet and go long haul direct from Heathrow probably with Qantas; but am watching for the Airline sales!!!

Eva Air also fly direct from Heathrow and are not too expensive either and offer an open ticket which would be handy for those who fall in love with the land of smiles. Thai airways are insanely expensive in what I have seen so they are not even on my radar. Thomas Cook and Thomson do charter flights to Thailand also but I think it is more of a summer affair, however I imagine a seat could be got cheap enough when they start selling them again.

Turkish Airlines are quite pleasant to fly with. They're definitely the cheapest to Thailand next summer. The other advantage is the relatively short (8-9 hour) leg from Istanbul to Bangkok.

I flew with them 2 years ago and stopped over in Istanbul for 4 days on the way out. Fantastic city and the stopover cost no extra and was easy to book on their website.

Etihad are down to €739 for my Feb/March dates from €820 and are €728 on ebookers. They just became viable again for me!

Last year i flew cork to amsterdam with aer lingus and then onto Bangkok with China airlines. Price of the flight was 727 return I booked through usit so if i had done it myself this would probably have worked out cheaper.

if you ring the likes of trailfinders in northern ireland and get a flight from england over in the sterling prices you can save money and then make your own way over to england with ryanair..

kayak.com is the best flight comparison site imo. Booked my own flights to BKK through it.

I flew Turkish Airways to Bangkok this year. Excellent flight. The best airplane food I ever ate. Comfortable plane. Istanbul was a grand airport. Worth paying the 20 odd euro in the lounge upstairs for the comfy seats, free food and booze.
