    marketed by kooga.
    its inflammatory and outdated.
the ireland team had to line up and respect it(precious samoans).

or do samoa get a free pass because they are international rugby cannon fodder?

Erm...yes, they need all the help they can get! Also their haka's a bit, well, how can I say this , crap no? And not so much cannon fodder that they didn't make us look decidedly bleedin' average.....

Personally I like the haka/war dance whether it be from Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa or where ever.

Surely if they have to listen to our 2 "anthems" the least we could do is let them perform their war dance.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I mean why do we play that as the team doesn't represent the Republic of Ireland.

Two men in front of me sat down today during Ireland's call and I thought to myself, "I'd love to see if they'd sit down if Stephen Ferris was in the seat net to them"

This isn't a team to represent the republic. As much as I'll sing Amhrán na bhFiann with pride, I'll sing Ireland's Call with just as much, in honour of the Ulster men who come down and play their hearts out for our team.

I'd say you're watching the match vs Scotland wearing your full NZ kit. When you read the comments on this board, do you put on a kiwi accent. How can you expect your opinion to matter when your an irish man who supports NZ. Seriously, the whole point of international rugby is supporting YOUR country, not jumping on the bandwagon of the winning team.

Stop being so petty by initiating arguments on a discussion board.

initiating a debate really.im highlighting the hypocrisy of everyone bleating about the haka and not a word on the sivi tau or whatever its called. debate the post not the poster

But this won't be a debate because there is no convincing you otherwise. If you wanted a debate you would have phrased the op differently.

So you don't post on this thread again in case you convince me you are trolling.

I think the OP has a point, in that people get more offended by the NZ Haka than the Islanders' variant.

They should obviously be treated the same. The only problem I have with them is forcing the opposition to stand and watch. They should be allowed to do their own thing, within their own half.

tonga, samoa and fiji dont give out as much or possible at all about any perceived lack of respect of their haka's.

nz do and thats why people get annoyed and say it should be got rid of, well one of the reasons any way.

i dont think any of them should be got rid of.

when nz play samoa they both do their haka at the same times so there is an argument saying the fellas on the field dont care what you do when they are dancing away.

was it the irb who made a ruling say you have to face the haka? if so thats not the kiwi's fault.

you should be allowed do what ever you want when they are doing the haka but if i were playing id be doing exactly what ireland did today. i think it works in pysching up the opponents too

No its because the IRB don't crawl up every other nations ass when it comes to respecting the islanders haka's like they do for the AB's

Because when Wales ask the island nations to respect their national anthem and allow it to be played after their haka's they have no problem unlike the AB's who sulk and do it in the changing room.

But mainly because as you allude to its because the All Blacks are so good and everyone is looking to take them down a peg but like your good self there is a middle ground that they're refusing to even consider

The original haka was a traditional Maori challenge. The Samoan or Fijian versions are still carried out in the original manner and are simply a challenge. The manufactured and vile throat slitting bilge is an affront to sportsmen everywhere.

Bottom line is people like the Haka. Its part of the spectacle and is not the reason that NZ teams are more than handy.
Even the GAA box and seat holders in Croke Park came out from the bars for the Haka last time around.

A non-issue and as usual, kerfuffle about everything but the rugby.

personally i like it , and i also like the haka - adds something special to the game of rugby - does the singing of national anthems in Cardiff and France give a lift to the home team - sure , but makes a great atmosphere

To call Samoa , canon fodder is below the belt, you obviously never played against them , cause anyone who has , including me at a low level will tell you they are the polar opposite to fodder

they do well for a small country with poor administration, there world cup record is on par with our own

I'm of the same opinion. Personally i don't see how a bunch of grown men prancing about can be considered intimidating but why the opposition have to stand and face it i don't know. They're not even allowed move now ffs. Campese had the right idea. Leave them to it and warm up.
