I was doing it on veteran and had spent the best part of an hour on it getting pretty frustrated. In the end I just looked at a video and saw him kicking barrels and completed it in about 10 minutes.

I kept trying to shoot the barrels but that didn't do anything.

I saw Woods kick one so I gave it a go myself. Did it on my first go, didn't realise there was a big fuss about it! :D

It was when one of the NPC's said that we had to use our imagination or be proactivce or something like that. Up to that point i was just trying to suppress the VC and move down into the trenches. But after that i had a look around and figured it had to be the barrels.

    I am awesome.

WTF.... I didn't kick any of the barrels, used the china lake and blasted my way through the VC

Is this the part were you come out of a tunnel and turn to the left and your looking down a hill at the vietnamise running around and everytime you kill one another one runs takes his place. I turned it off after being killed 10 times. Came back later and slowly made my way down. Did not see any barrels, or remember kicking them in any other part of the game.

It didn't help that the bloody waypoint marker was set in the trenches below and not on the actual barrels themselves. An objective in the pause menu would have been helpful too. I raged at this part hard, and when I did figure it out it took me about 15 minutes to clear the rest of the level.

ya i took me about a hour to to find out you had to kick the barrels.

at 1st i was running down to the point and running back up the hill then try to run to the side but i keeped on getting killed

then i tryed to just kill every one and because they just keep coming back that didn't work

but by hiding be hide a barrel i hit square and i fill down and you all knows what comes next

this is maybe the hardiest part of Black Ops

Sniping enemies from second floor windows with akimbo pistols in Kowloon just because you're trying to get the achievement is infinitely more frustrating than those barrels were.

    So annoying!

OP if I could double thank you I would! This part has been pissing me off big time! I'm pretty sure I kicked one of the barrels on the first attempt but been trying (and failing) to shoot my way though since!

Could this be classed as a spoiler? if so could the thread title be changed.

Not really a spoiler since it's in the trailer, it's just when you get to that part you will be kicking yourself if you dont know about the barrells

Didn't kick the barrels at all. Lowered it down to Hardened and blasted my way through. Now the rest of the levels are too easy. How do I bring it back up?

    Like. Oh. My. Gawd!

Had to lower the difficulty level because of this part! Thanks OP, now can go back and complete this on veteran :)

Especially on Vet. Those two are by far the hardest parts of the game so far. (I haven't finished it yet.)

iwas ready to throw the controller through the screen playing on vet and spent and hour trying fiffrent routes, flanking, sniping etc. until i took cover behind one of the barrels and got it.

It took ****ing ages. I knew you're to kick the barrels but the VC kept spawning and the barrels were right out in the open.

I had to look on youtube. Did it in a few minutes on Vet after that, but before realising what I was supposed to do, I must have died about 30 times.

Kowloon was still way harder, because I was playing on Vet and convinced myself that I had to get the dual wielding achievement as well. The whole level was actually grand apart from that one part when you first walk out onto the rooftops. Trying to shoot guys in upstairs/distant windows with dual sub machine guns is ridiculous.

Finally finished the campaign. Got 540 points on my first run through, must revisit it and find out what I missed.

Very bad game design that so many people have been tormented with this section. Was on the verge of lowering difficulty myself until, by absolute fluke, i took cover behind a barrel and the "press x to fuk the barrel" showed up. Stupid.

Tried blasting my way through but got riddled to bits each time.

Second game the Viet cong have annoyed my head, they done the same in WaW aswell with jumping out your ass pocket and propper ****ting ya up. :D

Ah, sh*t. I never realised this and kept suicide running until I eventually got past and they stopped spawning.

To get the achievment on Kowloon just play on recruit!

Found that easy on hardened, no where near as bad as the piece with the barrels, where I was stuck for 30 mins or so.

When I saw the title, I actually thought this was gonna involve kicking a shotgun :o

I NEVER realised that you could kick the barrels either! I raged on this for a good day or two on Hardened, coming up on it now on Veteran and was NOT looking forward to it! Looks quite easy now though!:D

I managed to complete it by just doing one of the barrels and then a suicide run. That did take at least 30-40 mins of constant dying though.

Once that was over, I found the remainder of the game OK enough to complete on veteran.

Deffo think that it was the easiest COD game (of course, I'm only playing since since COD4:MW) to complete on veteran. There's a lot more room for stealth, and a few alternative paths that you can take in some levels that will allow you to flank the enemy and catch them unawares.

Only other annoying part in the campaign was the Hazmask part. They just don't make them to stand up to bullets these days :p

Final word from me on the barrel level. If you think that one is bad, then obviously your mind has (rightfully) decided to forget Heart of the Reich on Veteran.
