Considering what you want the laptop for; essays, downloading music and films - it will do those things just fine. For the price, it has 2GB RAM, 1.9Ghz Processor speed, 320 GB Hard Drive, DVD writer, webcam, mike. It isn't a high end gaming laptop, but you don't need that.

The only thing is that the screen is not that big, at 15.6".

Lenovo has a reputation for solid, reliable products. Lenovo bought out IBM's PC division, so some might say it is an IBM, effectively.

You are wondering if it's a bit cheap. I think that the price is cheap but that the quality is good. See for yourself. Check out the spec, to see what you are getting for the price, and compare with other laptops for €500 or less.

If you want one with hdmi out port, for connecting to a hdtv, look in harvey norman, did electric ,cost 450 approx ,depending on the cpu type.lenova is a good brand for quality.Don.t be put off by the price.

At around the €500 you can easily an i3 cpu.
As i have said before, old tech is still old tech...the newer processors will always offer greater advantages over older processors in performance, heat and battery life. Always aim for the newest tech in your budget, even just for future proofing.

This will be perfect for your needs.

The other laptop mentioned will struggle with even 720p playback, and the difference between 2gb and 3gb RAM is significant even in normal multitasking. Plus it has HDMI out.
In fact the Intel HD is actually powerful enough for gaming of older games and even low end gaming of low GPU intensive games like Football Manager with multiple leagues.

+1 on this. recommended it to a friend. there is a very similar model though with the athlon x2 processor instead and its alot cheaper and from tests there isn't much between the two apart from battery life, heat etc. but saying that the i3 was top in all the software benchmarks so thats what cught my eye
