    Just saw this on Donedeal
    1987 Porsche 944 turbo
    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/vintagecars/1694457
That's a pre 85 1/2 car same as my 1984 model, 1/2 way through 1985 the dash changed to a more modern looking one, the front windscreen became flush fitting not slightly recessed like this and if it's a turbo it should have the turbo front bumper.
I know on the old reg system when a car was imported and re-registered it's reg number was for the year it was re-registered, I thought this changed with the new system but maybe that's how it got an '87 plate.

So it probably just a late registration.

ad says it was written off in '06 and he's 'not sure why'

Why are there pictures of two cars on one ad?

Cars can be "written" off in the uk for strange reasons, I bought and drove home from the Uk a car with a pushed in quarter panel.
there has been discussion on here on these matters in the past, "written off " may not be as severe as it sounds.

    He's selling two cars, the " '87 944 turbo" and a " '92 S2 cabrio". I meant the '87 944 turbo. Just looks a bit odd.

The price for the convertible seems too good to be true. All very dubious.

Another (edit: person) drawing the attention of the customs. UK plates, *and* written off.

Donedeal is starting to get a very bad rep.
