Wexford - Recording MPEG4 SD & HD

I have a Humax 9200t & it is good at receiving & recording UK Freeview SD (MPEG2 Transmission). Loses some channels due to weather fairly frequently, but overall a good box. Also I used to get approx 40 channels inc. much rubbish up to October – but get 15-20 now
What has always been lacking is the ability to record Irish channels.
Now that RTE/N2/TV3 have begun transmitting digitally in MPEG4, I am guessing that the new humax box HDR Fox T2 which has MPEG4 receiver should now receive this new RTE digital MPEG4 transmission. But how can I be sure? Right now I can see that the RTE radio channels being picked up by my current Humax 9200t – but should I be getting some signal already from the MPEG4 transmission (eg sound and not vision? At some stage during the trials transmissions I got this, but don’t have it now). At least if that was coming through I would know that the new HDR Fox T2 would work for the irish channel transmission.

Separately, how will I know beforehand if this box will pick up the 2 HD Channels BBCHD and ITVHD over here in Wexford – can I do anything to test beforehand. Or should I already be picking up these signals in some format? (eg sound and not vision like above?)
GBP£350/say €440 is a substantial spend, but it’s OK if I know the above 2 things will work. Otherwise I’ll have to look at a FreeSat option which looks like about €520 installed for a dish and a FoxSat HDR500

Yes the humax t2 box is excelent and will do the job for you.
You are probably losing the commercial channels on presely, they are lower power.
The hd channels are high power though, the same power as the bbc and itv mux.
Itv3 and 4 are on one of the weaker muxes too.

You should be getting them all though so I'd have your aerial looked at,it may be out of allignment or you may need a better one.
You will need to have a 2nd aerial pointed to either forth mountain or suir valley [near pilltown co kilkenny] to get the saorview channels.
If you have an existing analogue uhf aerial pointed to mt leinster, you won't get digital from there as it stupidly uses one of same channels presely uses so they block each other out especially if you have a welsh aerial. So those sound channels must be either forth or suir actually.
With the 9200t,you can hear rte but not see it.You can actuall get aertel too.

I'm receiving over 90 channels up here in Arklow from presely and including the saorview irish channels and the HD presely channels.
I cannot remember the last time I lost the uk channels.
I didn't even lose them during the recent high pressure weather but I have a very good aerial set up.
I know people locally with moderate set ups that are alligned correctly and are working well who rarely if ever lose them either.
They don't go in heavy rain. They can go in heavy fog though.
