I have an xps m1530. I have turned off the wireless via the switch at the side. I have disabled the wireless card via the device manager. Now the laptop is still toasting hot beneath the touchpad, where the wireless card is. I was under the impression the heat there was generated by the wireless card. Why is it still hot?

Are you sure it's your wireless card which is overheating?

I'ts normally either the Graphics processor or system processor (cpu).

I doubt very much the wireless card is doing enough to heat up the touchpad to the point where it's 'toasting hot'.

But if you want to be sure, just turn the laptop over and remove the wireless card, its under the smaller panel. You just take off two antenna cables and it pops right out.

While you're at it, open the larger panel and inspect the fan and vents (for dust/debris).

It's not overheating; it's just hot.
It's hot where the wireless card is. It is cooler where the CPU and the GPU are.

See in the image, it's hot where the wireless card is, at the bottom.

Wireless card is of and disabled. Don't know why it should be hot there.

The touchpad is not hot at all. The bottom of the laptop is hot directly underneath the touchpad.

Cleaning the vents and fan would not effect this. As you can see in the pic above, the heatsink is not connected to the area that is hot.

I'd remove it and see if it's still hot there. I've never felt noticeable heat coming from a wireless card before tbh.
