I'm hoping the perfect track record of the season so far continues, the first 5 episodes have been great - really looking forward to watching this ASAP.

    TV.com summary:
On This Side, 15 people across the Eastern Seaboard suffer amnesia after hearing the same radio frequency, and the Fringe team is called in. Meanwhile, Peter continues to work on the Other Side's mass-destruction weapon and pursue his relationship with "Olivia," unaware of who she truly is.

Will post up some thoughts later tonight when I get to watch the episode but here's the thread for those lucky enough to watch it earlier (Grrrr, work getting in the way!) :).

    Oh.

    My.

That was.. amazing! I mean everything is just building up so incredibly! This is how a TV show should be done. I love that the pieces for the machine were on our side and it is to create this vacuum that the First People spoke of.

Fringe has now become the greatest thing on TV at present.

Something about this felt a little off to me. The number box/code thing lacked a certain amount of dramatic weight and didn't really drive the episode all that much, imo. On the plus side, Walter continues to be great and Astrid finally gets a little more screen time. So perhaps the whole episode was merely a vehicle for the relationships between our main leads and obviously they've been building towards next week when our Olivia is likely to try and get back. That's probably what we were meant to take from this, rather than any significance from the box/amnesia or alternate sleeper agents being in the blue world. Re longitude and latitude, come on, surely that would be one of the first systems to check for if you were trying to crack a code or track a pattern, though I probably shouldn't moan about that because of the general portrayal of tech in general. :p

Another good episode :) On the grand scheme of things from all 3 seasons so far i think for overall content in the episodes this has been the best season so far.

Noticed how Nena could see a difference in Oliva i also taught this was what she was going to mention to Walter at some stage in the episode.

Cant wait to see in next couple of episodes ''Real'' Oliva trying to get back to our universe then the clash between both Olivas. Wonder how peter will react to this?? Dying to see what this machine does as well.

Something is telling me we could yet be losing one of the main characters in the show maybe this season........

Really great episode but I felt it was let down by a couple of flaws. For a start, these pieces of the Device have been scattered around the Earth for millennia yet they happily reside on current day continents and only a few feet below ground level (in one case even just beneath someone's basement). How have they not been discovered before now. Secondly, the whole numbers/longitude and latitude location thing doesn't make sense since how did the First People know what languages we were going to be speaking and what geo-location methods we would be using.

I suppose it's possible they could have used time travel to come forward in time and teach us languages and other skills in order to prepare us for using the device but if that were the case then why not just travel a little further in time and give it to us when we were ready. Assuming of course the device is a hold-over from the Yesterday People.

Other than that though, it was great.

I don't normally seek flaws in programs, especially when it comes to any sort of fictional show as they generally abound, but in this case I felt it was necessary.

Also, cool fact, those number stations actually exist though I doubt there's any device.

That's what they want you to think...

Another good episode. I am now really looking forward to Olivia coming back home and have a showdown with Alt-olivia. Should be fun!

I presume the observers must now be the last remaining first people.

Anyone else notice a bit of tension when Nina and Asprin greeted each other.

Just watched this episode there and I just find it so unbelievable...

Seriously, how can someone like U2?

Back on-topic: I taught it was a really good episode. I get what Antar is sayin but that doesn't really bother me. I think it's building up well for the rest of the season. Would like to see more of the observers in the next episodes, they'll surely have some direct involvement soon?

Great ep, can't wait for the next one!
How the pieces of the machine hadn't been found up till now is a bit much but i can let it go. How the Fringe devision is going to get all these pieces from the various governments would be an interesting problem. I can imagine the Chinese getting in the way of Walternate's grand plan, never mind the Russians. Would be brilliant if the writers deal with these issues rather than gloss over them like I presume they will.
I haven't seen the ep. yet - but ratings wise, ohh dear!

As has been suggested in countless other threads (both here and on the sgu forum at least), why don't you start up a new thread with these ratings?

solid episode, i cant wait for the machine to be assembed and see what happens, good call on the observers being the first people,

i wonder though is it possible that theres a machine on both sides, how else would walternate know the sites, also maybe why walternate wants it built over here so he can trick peter into using it,

also great to see astrid doing something she always seemed fairly smart, but they never seemed to show it to much before, altrid is probaby a more socially inept version of astrid, thus the no direct eye contact,

is it just me or does anyone else want our olivia back, i dont like altivia, and shes on both sides, were only getting flashes of olivia, theres been several occasions where altivia has almost been caught out, nina noticed, walter nearly noticed, and peter is suspicious, i thought it was a bit stupid that she could remember the numbers when she doesnt have a photgenic memory, also i find it weird that she hasnt visited her sister,

You should change your user name to Richard Downer. Watch the episode maybe? worry bout ratings later.

Back on topic i have read there will not be any our Oliva vs there Oliva on screen this season. Wonder would we ever have any Walter vs Walternate???

Loved this episode again (no surprise really so far this season) but I'm not too sure about the whole "first people, ancient super powerful device" thing... For those who watched Alias (and J.J. Abrams is the common link here), the whole Rambaldi thing took over the whole show near the end and in a bad way... I'm really hoping that does not happen here though.

The flaws in how easy it was to find the pieces were deliberate IMO. Remember Altlivia's and Peter's discussion in the car about the book regarding the first people? How did the author even know about them in the first place? My guess is that the book is a fake, planted to help them find the pieces and the pieces themselves have not been where they are for millions of years, but were maybe "sent" from the other side. After all, the ending clarified that it was all part of the plan for "our" Fringe team to find the pieces and everything leading up to that was probably simply set up to make it seem like they worked things out themselves...

The thing that bugs me the most is how Altlivia keeps getting away with really poor excuses and nobody questions anything, especially when the shapeshifter met his end...

Very good episode once again though and I'm hugely looking forward to next week as usual :).

And as you should know, i report ratings for all the shows i watch, it dosen't mean i'm running a show down or wanting to it be axed, if i'm watching and enjoying a show ratings are important in the context of renewal and seeing more of the show.

Another very solid ep. - several times Altlivia nearly got found out!....she's supposed to have a photographic memory, but really struggled to remembere those numbers!, every time a scene came on where she screwed up i was hoping they'd cop on!

As for the machine, my theory is it needs to be built on both sides to work, i think the machine will destroy our-verse, unless Peter can adjust it. As for if the pieces were brought over or already here, debatable...not sure as yet. Both theories proposed hold water.

Excellent and enjoyable ep. - strong season thus far.

I loved this episode. I might have mentioned this before, but the writers are doing an incredibly good job of blending the "weird event of the week" with the main story arc, and with no filler. This is how TV should be done, I can't think of any other show that delivers so consistently.

Very good episode, like the season as a whole. Anna Torv has been much better this year too, showing more dramatic range.
The thing that bugs me the most is how Altlivia keeps getting away with really poor excuses and nobody questions anything, especially when the shapeshifter met his end...
Torv did a good job when Peter asked her to recall the numbers - she had a momentary "oh crap, I've forgotten" look on her. Fauxlivia doesn't appear to have our Olivia's eidetic memory.

I immediately thought of Rambaldi as well once it came to finding all the pieces to build up. Maybe they'll uncover Sloane!

Yep, it was established early in the season that Altlivia does not have the photographic memory of "our" Olivia but she is an excellent shot whereas our Olivia has fairly poor aim (remember Lincoln in the premiere was fairly surprised she missed a shot when up against him and Charlie).

The numbers thing was well done and a good save on Altlivia's part but she still gets away with some very suspicious behavior overall. With Peter I can accept that he may be turning a blind eye to it all but surely Broyles at least should be more suspicious by this stage.
