    hi all,
i have got some great help in this forum recently, thanks so much for all the help.
now onto my latest puzzle. i turned off the water a few times this week to remove whiteware from an upstairs en-suite. all went well. every tap\toilet\shower in the house is working perfectly except one!!!
the downstairs ensuite is getting hot water but when i flush the toilet or turn on the cold tap nothing happens, no cold water feed seems to be hitting that ensuite! what is puzzling is that when i turn on the hto tap i get hot water and then the toilet cistern starts to fill! a bit crazy methinks!
No valves are closed so i have no idea what is causing the issue!
if anyone has a theory i would appreciate it.

    Air lock.

If you have a mono basin mxr out a kids baloon over the spout. open it half way between hot and cold. Let the hot fill it slowly it should force the air lock out.

    +1, probably an airlock.

A tap in my house had the same problem after I emptied the attic tank.

I got a garden hose tap connection. I connected the hose from a mains water tap, to the tap with the problem. Then I back-fed mains water into the pipe for a few seconds, it blew the airlock back into the tank. Worked a treat.

    Hope this helps.

Joey the lips you're a star. thanks for all your help.
now just so i am clear on this:-
place a ballon over the spout
open both taps halfway (here is a pic of the actual tap http://www.adverts.ie/289676/fixtures-and-fittings/white-cermaic-sink-tap-and-pedestal/)

    fill the ballon.

out of interest, what are my options if this does not work?

You will need to turn on both taps on this one. It should work. When the balloon fills slightly take its weight and if its not working. turn the tap off on the one thats working. The pressure in the balloon might kick in after a few mins. If not you may have to resort to the one below mine..
