I'm having trouble finding any proper specs on this. Anyone know if it supports Saorview?
I kinda feel the massive price drops are a result of these tvs being unshiftable soon

One of the lads in work has one of these and says its great. Might chance me arm, looking for something for the kids playroom.

Does Saorview really matter if you have NTL/Sky?

Try cello c2698f , it was the only thing i could see on the box. even the name cello name is stuck onto the box rather then printed on like the rest of the details

    Nope.
To be fair to Tesco, if you bought it and you couldn't get Saorview, I don't think they'd have a problem taking it back. I mean surely any tv being sold in Ireland should receive it, unless specified.

    € 708,07 on pixmania

It seems to be Freeview Hd, so I think it should be OK for DTT.

If it has DTT capability, then it will have a digital signal. You could tune the DTT in through the scart & then downgrade your Sky package accordingly.

    Pity!
If anyone hears of any stock of these in or around Dublin city please give me a shout.

it is still a good offer in Tesco though if you can get it.. cannot for the life of me find any reviews of it online though.. anyone found one?

I though tvs would need MPEG4 for the Irish DTT ?

Are you sure? Don't see any mention of Freeview HD.

Be perfect for Saorview if it is.

That'd be right, along with MHEG5 middleware, etc. (Freeview is MPEG2).

    :confused::confused::confused:

Are you implying you could output DTT from the TV scart if the TV has a DTT tuner. Otherwise an extremely confusing post.

I think what you mean is you can combine a FTV satellite system (which doesnt get RTE/TV3/TG4) with DTT to get all Irish and UK ftv channels.
Later there is likely to be the option of getting the Irish ftv channels on a different satellite (Saorsat) to the UK ftv which will require an additional dish or lnb setup.

If you are currently paying for Sky / UPc then Saorview or Saorsat is not likely to give you much more than you already get in terms of channels, perhaps the rolling news some RTE variations and improved HD options.

It you want free free free (no sub) then DTT + FTV sat is currently the way to go.

And yes I suspect there will be a lot of offloading of non Saorsat capable TVs in the coming months

What is the story with RTEHD though, will that only be on saorview or will NTL have that too?

Anyone get this TV? was looking out for a decent HD 32" but would consider this. May get that walker one in Power City for a little dearer but at least you know if defo has saorview.

Design of the TV looks very different to what Cello TVs used to look like, but they used to be pretty horrendous quality - flimsy, extremely high defective rate, though the quality of the screen was OK. Not sure what they're like now, though they've certainly stepped up a notch in the visual department. For that price with a warranty it's hard to see fault though.

RTÉ HD is planned to only be on Saorview initially.

does this mean that if i get multi room viewing from ntl it wont work ??

tried scanning for channels using the basic pipe already in bedroom and only picked up 11 channels RTE, Setanta, City Channel, Living TV and the rest are just blank black and white screens, what good is this telly ?

with multi room you need to get an additional box to decode the ntl signal

ntl service or channels has nothing to do with DTT freeview
