    Hey All,
    just wondering if someone can help me out! I need to get an understanding of what materials are normally used when dealing with protected structures...... aka when materials are being replaced aka roof tiles, lead flashing etc Just a general specification if anyone has exp in this area.
    Thanks

    To be honest, you question can't be answered. There is no such thing as a heritage specification. Things like flashings will be modern equivalent to a typical standard, but roof finish, wall materials etc vary so much are really depend on the original structure.

    Just today, I scheduled 8 protected structures over 3 sites. 4 terraced houses (from 1870s), and 2 sets of semi-Ds (from a similar period)

    for repairs;
    Roof materials ranged from corrugated iron to slate
    Walls were sandstone blocks, bricks, timber shiplap boarding

    Gutters were copper throughout.

    It reall depends on the situation and existing. What exactly are you working on/with
