My sister did it and it seems to have worked out fine for her. Floor tiles in her case though

You can put on a special primer so the tile adhesive gets a grip. I would prefer to remove the old tiles if possible.

Done it loads of times and no hassle. Once correct primer and adhesive is used.

Also score the old tiles, help to give a better bond to adhesive.

I am in the business years and i wont do it. Nor will i offer the materials to do it. Its a bad job that looks bad.

    Problems

Wall tiles. You usually encounter problems around the bathtaps. Especially of your using thicker tiles like porc or marble

Floor tiles. The toilet pan is effected the basin has to be reset and all the traps. The door has to be plained.

There is no guarantee the floor will stay solid.

A labour will take 2 takes to strip out a bathroom

    Allow 250 euro labour

100 materials like boards and primer.

    Best money ever spent.
