    Hello All,

We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children, the children will be going on 5 & 2 when we are travelling next June 2011.

Last year we travelled with Brittany Ferries to Roscoff and travlled down to le bois masson in st jean de monts (vendee region). We have booked again for next year - but was wondering if anybody has stayed at any of their other campsites and how did they find them.

We would like to cap the drive from Roscoff to 5 hours.

    All advice appreciated.

    Thanks:)

    Hi,

We went to Domaine Le Kerlann this August (2 adults and 3 kids -9, 7 and 4) and they loved it. It was our first time going to France as we normally go to Wales.

We only stayed for 5 nights but it was so close to Roscoff that it only took about 1.5 hours to reach it. The park was lovely - there was an indoor and outdoor pool and playgrounds dotted around the park. We did not really do much travelling around but did go into the local town Pont Aven once but as we were only there for 5 nights we stayed on site. The weather was nice - not too hot but you could lie out in it if you wanted.

We are trying to decide about next year and are considering Le Bois Masson (via ferry) or else mobile home in Salou (via plane) - trying to weigh up the costs.

    Hope this helps...

    Hi

I've been to france 4 times and we are returning again this June
I think it is a great family holiday and far better than the pub culture of Spain suits us better anyway
Always with Siblu and I wouldn't chance it with anyone else it is too much money to risk it for sake of maybe max €100 discount somewhere else Siblu service is top notch once in Domaine de Kerlann when it rained and there was puddles outside mobile home they came and put down paving slabs straightaway

Domaine de kerlann would be very quiet in June. |would recommend le bois dormant or le bois masson for first timers lovely seaside town with usual things like promenade and ice cream stands little shops etc and not too far from boat. also there is a drive through safari park near called planet sauvage best I've ever seen.

we too are from cork and I found this the best one to drive to
we fly now with ryanair from cork to la rochelle my kids are 3 and 6 and les charmettes is also brillant near there.

Going to la bonne anse plage this year and la reserve last year site was great but nearby towns not so good for restaurants or kids stuff etc
You'll enjoy it anyway perfect place just get mobile home with terrace if poss because well worth it with a 2 yr old

Hi OP - Have a look at Bonne Anse Plage near Royan as mentioned above by Oisinsmom. By travelling south of the Loire the weather is usually more dependable than the Vendee or Brittany, especially in June. Probably longer than a 5-hour drive though, I can't remember. You can walk or cycle to the town (cycle path through the forest) which is nicer than having to drive. Although with small kids that might not be practical.

I wouldn't confine myself to Siblu - personally I don't like them. Their main aim seems to be to sell mobile homes. Owners then rent them out through the company which means a wide variation in the quality of what you rent. We were given a mobile in Domaine de Kerlann - supposed to be top of the range - which I wouldn't keep animals in and was at least 15 years old. Luckily we were able to get an alternative. At least with Keycamp and Eurocamp you get what you see in the brochure. Keycamp in particular update their mobile stock regularly, they sell the old ones to other companies or to the campsites themselves.

We've been holidaying in French campsites for 12 years now and there are several sites I would recommend, but most would be a longer drive from Roscoff. If you were flying it would be different, but Brittany Ferries is a lovely start to the holiday. Last year we had to come back with Irish Ferries. Oh dear.

    All

I can highly recommend this 4* Siblu Park in Brittany.

We've been twice (Sep 2009 & May 2010) and are going back again at the end of May.

Another tip would be to look for Private Owners at the Park, as you can save hundreds of Euro by booking with a Private Owner, instead of with Siblu themselves. By doing this, you'll already see the Mobile Home you'll be using, rather than being allocated a Mobile Home and it being "Pot Luck", as to the age and condition of the Home.

You do need to buy your own "Fun Passes" to use the Swimming Pools & Kids Clubs, but even taking this into consideration, you still save loads of money.

Feel free to PM me if you want any info.

    Thanks

    Dave

I know this is an old thread, but how do you contact the private owners please :)

    Hi Baby75

You can sometimes check EBay to see if any Private Owners are selling weeks for the Campsite you're interested in or go to Google and search for the campsite name. Then search through the results to see if you see any Private Owners websites.

    Hope this helps
