From the Argos page: "Please note that the digital and Freeview features of this TV are not available in the Republic of Ireland"

Spotted this in Argos today and seems like great value

Its down from €344 to €179.

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/catalogId/1500002501/productId/1500865903.htm

This is not compatible with Irish DTT At the bottom of the listing it states the following

Please note that the digital and Freeview features of this TV are not available in the Republic of Ireland

Whats the point in having a "HD ready" TV with a standard low quality DVD player built in?

HD Blue ray DVD combo TV's are the way to go now with more and more HD movies coming availible at Extra Vision etc.

We will see a heap of cheap DVD combo TV's like this flooding the market in the coming months.

dvd quality is still pretty good upscaled and on a small tv like this handy to just have the dvd built in. dvds will be around for a while yet

more to the point, what the point in a "HD Ready" TV at all if it's only got a 22" screen?

Too many knockers here. FWIW, picked it up today and installed. A really nice looking piece of kit. Still dont know what all the fuss is about the freeview crap. If you have NTL / SKY, plug in the scart :D

And its a hell of a lot nicer looking piece than the 26" Cello that was posted recently at half price. Cheers again OP ;)

dodzy - how was it packaged - ie is there a handle on the box? Might pick one up tomorrow, but I'll be on foot...

No handle on box. That said, very light and manageable if on foot. You'll have no issues. Picked up another 3 for friends and family over the weekend. All thrilled. And as a brucie bonus, you get a tenner voucher card with all purchases over 100 quid :D makes the deal even sweeter!
