Or are they illegal here? Would be nice to have one around the house. I've missed a lot of news from back home in the last year but I think we're allowed kill violent intruders nowadays right? Machete to the arse.

And who the f**k is Alison O Riordan?

If it gets spotted by guards my bets are it will be confiscated.

bring a shotgun instead, i promise you'll get past security when you explain how they're much more effective at shooting knackers called frog in the back.

Once it's on your person in a scabbard you're fine. You can bring it anywhere in the country like that really.

Dublin Airport is really lax. I brought through an M134 there last year.

Hmm.... machete; Alison O Riordan.... interesting combination...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

You should be grand. Just put it in a plastic bag and make sure there isn't over 100ml of blood on the blade.

OP come on, Ireland is no place to be bringing dangerous weapons like machetes into. They don't belong here.

With the way this country is going, you'd be looking at duel-wielding Samurai swords, broken bottles, sawn-off shotguns (just be sure to stock up on ammo while you can), that sort of thing. And that's just for protection from the police....

Machetes= Totally illegal in holy ireland. Bring a kukhri :)

Don't believe they are illegal if used for lawful purposes.

However, walking in a public area with one is likely to get you arrested or for public disorder/intimidation or at least questioned by a Gardai. Same would apply to crowbar, golf club, kitchen knife, chainsaw etc.

I bought one in a shop in the city centre last year. Used for clearing up the huge bushes in my back garden. Also potentially useful for camping/hiking etc.
