    Hi all,

We have an allotment and need a second freezer to store all the produce we get from it. I extended the kitchen units last year and left a space for an integrated under counter freezer but I'd really like a chest freezer, much easier for freezing that much stuff, would fit more but it wouldn't suit going under the counter.

I know freezers and fridges are supposed to have a ventilated space but was wondering if a large-ish store room with no windows would be enough ventilation for a small chest freezer. We have a larg-ishstore room in our apartment that would easily fit a small chest freezer I've been looking at, no windows, around 4.5ftwide x 8 or 9ft long approx. Would there be enough ventilation in this room for a small chest freezer of around 4cu. ft capacity? I think it might be ok, but husband reckons you shouldn't have fridges or freezers in a room without windows:confused:

any fridge freezer experts out there can settle it?:p

I don't see the problem myself.

The room seems plenty apt for a small 4cu. ft. freezer.

My mom had hers in a shed with no windows and it must have lasted 10 years or more and that was a big old chest freezer.

Found some excellent tips here on using a freezer. www.grow-your-own.ie/freezing.html think it has more to be added.
