P60 confusion

I put in a claim to social welfare a few weeks ago. They were looking for documents, one of which was my P60 for 2008 for Deerhaven Ltd. I didnt have a copy so at the time I rang that employer looking for it. They told me they couldn't access the system for that year, but if I go to the tax office, they would be able to give me a copy.

When I rang the tax office to get a copy they said "no problem", however they sent me a copy of my P45. When I rang back again and spoke to another person about getting a copy, I was told that I would not have had a P60 for that year as I left that employer in Oct 2008 and didn't finish working out the year.

I sent a note into social welfare explaining this and didn't hear back until yesterday (weeks later). They are still looking for the P60. I rang the tax office and was told that they couldnt issue it to me, that I would have to go back to my employer, all they can do is write a letter for me stating what tax and PRSI I paid for 2008.

I rang Deerhaven Ltd and again they told me they can't access the system for 2008. Also they said that if I had another employer when I left them in Oct 08, I would have gotten a P60 from the other employer, not them as you only get one P60 a year. However when I came off the phone and thought about this, I realised that I had two other employers at that time when I was leaving Deerhaven Ltd and I got a P60 from each of them.
I'm totally confused, should I have a P60 for 2008 for Deerhaven Ltd or is it true that I wouldn't have one as I left in October and didn't finish working out the year?

Since you left deerhaven in Oct 2008 you will not have a P60 from them, they would only issue you a P45 at the date of leaving.

You will only have a P60 if you were in employment at the 31st December 2008.

So if you were working somewhere else after deerhaven up to and including 31st Dec 2008 then that employer would have issued you with a P60.
