    Did anybody see this race?

Claiming jockey Chris Timmons was handed a 28-day ban by the Bangor stewards after dropping his hands with the Castle Construction Building Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle at his mercy on Jeanry.

Jeanry travelled supremely well throughout and had beaten off all-comers after the last. Having gone over five lengths clear of Monsieur, Timmons appeared to ease down having passed the half-furlong marker.

Monsieur (5-1), ridden by Matt Griffiths, rallied gamely and got the front with about 50 yards to go, giving Timmons no chance to galvanise his mount, who went down by three-quarters of a length.

I watched the race on racing uk's website just there (don't know how to get there link up here) and i'm pretty sure that after the race the commentator said that someone put €55,000 on Jeanry at 1.01 on Betfair(if that sounds right)

The type of lads that do that are insane imo.

It only takes one of these to sink you.

How much would he have won? Is it €550 only!

They can't tell that it was a single account that backed the horse at €55,000 though. I doubt it was one single account but a colection of bridge jumpers.

The horse just stopped, I don't think that the jockey expected the horse to totally pull up, they normally jog themselves out over the line but this was astonishing and a terrible advertisement for the jockey who will never be allowed to forget this. Shame.

I had Jeanry, ****ing raging so I was. :o Was watching it on Paddy Power and was about to switch off when he was coming up to the line only to hear the commentator saying he was about to be caught.

    Race is here - http://horses.sportinglife.com/Video/Racing/0,27770,405383,00.html

That looks to me that the jockey pulled the horse up not that the horse stopped by himself.

At 3:45:54 the jockey looks around and saw the other horse cathing him and had a few seconds to try and get the horse going again but he done nothing untill the other horse was up besides him.

I wonder if that £55,000 liquidity for 1.01 unusual or is there that much wagered at that price for most races .

28 day ban is a joke.

Dont think so from my looking at it, the jock has eased him down way too far early out and was never gonna be able to get it going again that close to the line. He only really gives him one big push and just gives it up again because the other horse is by him at this stage and its only about 40 yards from the line.
