vw polo oil light

i have a 2006 vw polo 1.2 petrol and last friday the oil warning lamp came on. i checked the level and topped up but the light came back on yesterday. i dipped again and its at the proper level and the light went out. but on the way in again it came back on again. do you think its a sensor fault.

Oil level or oil pressure? If it's the red oil pressure light then DON'T DRIVE AT ALL.

no its the yellow one its only the oil top up light. i read the manual and topped up. it seems like an intermittent problem. there is sufficient oil in the sump. i dipped again this morning

VW oil level sensors have been known to give trouble. If you're happy that the oil level is correct and the red oil pressure light says off then it may well be the level sensor.

Best to get it checked out to be 110% sure.

ye thats what i was thinking. all is ok with the oil and the pressure is ok
