Hi folks, 1st time poster here, so please bear with me! I'm currently unemployed, I saw an ad online for food/beverage assistant in a 4 star hotel. They obv had their required criteria listed which I more than met, I have over a years exp bar/waiter work in another 4 star hotel plus around 8 yrs customer servive exp in insurance industry. The only other criteria listed was cust serve exp, fluent english (i'm irish) and it said exp in a 4star hotel was an advantage. I sent over my c.v about 10 days ago, then folowed up with a phone call, but got no response. The ad has been up for around 2 months, and was actually reposted on Monday gone past. My point is this: They must have readvertised the job as they didnt fill the posts, however, if they have a c.v that more than meets the criteria, why did they dismiss it without even contacting the applicant and then go to the trouble of readvertising? Now I'm not overly bothered, I'm going to Korea in Feb to teach English, but I'm just annoyed and perplexed! I have a feeling that their looking for female applicants (I'm male.) Sorry about the long post! Any thoughts?

Is it a small area? Maybe it's just a case of "face doesn't fit". Yes, often this is for illegal reasons, but you can't do anything unless you can prove it, and they'd just say "overqualified".

Or maybe they just lost your CV! Submit it again, and see what happens. Even better try to find a friend-of-a-friend on the inside, and see what the can find out.
