went with 3 year old nephew last year to liffey valley one.there was a kids rink with walkers type thing but if very small wont be able to hang on to it.also they had a plastic sleigh run.the bigger rink was too busy and he would have been creamed by people.it depends on how big they are.i think hed enjoy it this year mre but prob wont try again for another few years when hes bigger

we brought our two l.o's last year & yes, they have zimmer-frame style supports for the kids (and crap adults like me!).

Just purchased 4 but when I check on my account orders I see the following
voucher no.1 Deal accepted, waiting for the necessary number of customers.

Do a certain amount of people have to buy this deal in order for it to go ahead?

Edit just read the terms and conditions
    Here's how it works:
    1) Reserve your deal by clicking the "buy now" button and entering your credit card details.
    2) Once the required number of people have signed up to the daily offer, the deal is on - so invite your friends!
    3) If the required number of people signs up then the deal is closed! Only at that point will we charge your credit card for the deal. Once the payment is completed you will receive the voucher by e-mail or by post within 14 working days. 4) If not enough people sign up, the deal is cancelled and you will not be charged a penny.

I hope they dont take 14 days as the Arnotts offer finished this sunday :(

I have bought some of these too but it says waiting for payment confirmation!! What's the story, anyone know, anyone else have this happen to them? Hope it works as I'm skint and the kids are desperate to go ice skating!! :(

I paid with paypal, vouchers received by email this morning. Have to wait until after 2pm today to book your spot online.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 121 ✭✭irishbrain

The way it works on CityDeal is that a certain number of people have to sign up to the days offer before the 24 hour clock runs out. We never know how many people that is exactly, but if enough sign up, you get your voucher emailed the next day. If there is not enough people signed up, the offer is closed and your card isn't charged.

Just to let other boards.ies know, when you go to www.christmasonice.ie/Booking.asp , when they ask for voucher code, use the Security Code from your citydeal email to book!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 330 ✭✭3_BOoYA_X

I purchased two of these the other night from citydeals.. printed off the attachment and it was only one sheet of a voucher, went into Arnotts today to get told that (2 x €6) voucher was only valid for one person and we would have to pay another €12.. Were they just trying to rip us off, was my email attachment incorrect?

Did anyone else have the same problem?

I purchased 2 vouchers as well - but got two separate emails, each with a voucher. Bought the two tickets separately online (enter the security code in the promotion code field on the first page as Dardania mentions above), no problems.

True - it's not the same at all. I could equate it to real ice skating as a certain noctural activity performed solo instead of performing it with someone else...

i bough another deal recently and on the voucher page,it said that had 7 days from day of purchase to cancel and get a refund which i hadnt noticed on deals before.chek the small print on the voucher and if that doesnt work email them saying you didnt know the dates were so specific and they might refund you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,561 ✭✭✭rickyjb

Yeah that's correct, you're entitled to a full refund once you inform them within 7 days. I think you just email support@citydeal.ie with your voucher/security code

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14 debfarr

thats a great idea, I ;have just emailed them for a refund, fingers crossed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,561 ✭✭✭rickyjb

I've also had to do the same thing as I missed this weekend and can't make the next dates, haven't had a reply yet though even though I asked for one just acknowledging that they'd gotten my email.

You might let me know if you hear anything back from them Debfarr...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,252 ✭✭✭Africa

Heard it was plastic and very hard to skate on, apparently lots of people injuring themselves. Im a decent ice skater, but i dont think id do well on plastic now...

will be missing it cause of this.

Dublin really needs a permanent ice rink...

    Thank you for your email.

I have cancelled this order and refunded the amount of 30 Euros back to your method of payment. Our partner has been informed that these vouchers are no longer valid.
Please allow up to 5 working days for this payment to process.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind regards

Which I must say is quick enough service, also an email to my paypal account saying the money was refunded...... happy days

7Up Christmas on Plastic. No thanks.

I have just emailed them too looking for a refund as I could not make the weekend just gone and I cannot go to the RDS on the weekend specified. I thing it's a bit rich when the specifics of the deal are so tight. (Have also been informed that one of my kids HATES ice skating!!!). You can please some people some of the time etc etc etc

Is it just Arnotts = Plastic or both RDS and Arnotts?

Thanks for the update Debfarr, I also got an email to say the transaction was cancelled but I haven't gotten the money refunded to my account yet (I paid by Laser). I'll give them a couple of days.

Customer service has been good so far I have to say, I got an actual reply to my email (from a real person!) within a day. Rare these days...
