We're trying to start up an airsoft society in the University of Limerick, anyone interested?
You don't have to actually be a student of UL to join.None students can join, they only have to pay a slightly higher membership fee (it'll only be about 10 euros for the year for none students).
We're going to try to get the best deals for members if they want to purchase equipment aswell.
We're looking into games against UCC,CIT and possibly ITT(Tralee) too.If you go to another college and have an airsoft society too tell us.
This is our facebook page visit it and like it:

Mid West Airsoft also do a starter set and Tony who run MWA is in LAC most weekends
So why not have a chat with him and he may be able to do you a deal

Worst possible thing would be to get some one time players after going through all the annoyance of setting up.That being said 200 quid for an AK,Mask and a chest rig epic

 how did I forget about Mid West Airsoft AKA the best site ever
    Epic facepalm moment for me

Cheers lads.I've already bought my two guns from MIA and they are sold out of those 1 joule starter kits. They might get them back because they got new stock there last week when I was in the shop(The APS electric blowbacks anyway).
I know about Mid West airsoft now through another guy helping me set up the society and we'll probably be doing business with him alright.
There's a few good members alright but I don't mind a couple of occasional airsofters so long as they don't stop us from running the club properly.

Things are looking a bit more promising as there was a reasonable turnout for a meeting we had tonight considering we didn't have much publicity leading up to it. And some people couldn't make it.
Also could someone tell me if a different company makes a TAR21 other than ARES because the ARES TAVOR hop up isn't designed correctly and causes the gun to jam and has to be replaced. One of the guys wants to buy one,but if there's a better one out there or if someone knows how much it costs to replace the hop up?

There's a Tavor made by TSI Armouries, but it seems to be more expensive and more crappy than the Ares one. I think you can get decent Ares ones though, my impression was that hop-up issues were only in specific production runs or whatever. Try before you buy would be the best advice, and make sure you have a come-back to the retailer in case it turns out not to be up to scratch.

    Good luck with the society!

The Ares gen 1 and 2 hd jamming issues because the hop up was done in some way that messes up the BB coming out of the barrel,I read it off a forum in america about the ares.Don't know about gen 3 because I haven't researched it.Basically you buy the gun,it jams, you get the hop up replaced with a different one and it works again without problems as far as I gathered.Seems Ares really messed up with the design/placement of that one component in the gun. Thats why I'd like to know about how much it costs. I can't think of another gun that can truly replace a TAR,another bullpup would not be the same.
Markom5a, we had a meeting on tuesday but only got posters out monday so we didn't get enough coverage.A good 10-15 still turned up though. We are currently trying to plan a meeting for next week. For updates, check out our facebook page (link in first comment).Hope to see you there.
Bemused, the people that can join are; Students, staff, graduates of UL and associates (have to be over 18,do not have to go to UL,cannot vote in AGMs). The only real difference is that you pay a slightly different membership depending on what group you fall into. So according to clubs and socs rules, anyone who falls into those categories can join.

Couple of questions, sorry but these are the rules:
1)Are you a student of UL
2)have you attended a full time course in UL for more than one semester in the past two years
    3)Have you graduated from UL?
4)Are you a staff member of UL?

If you aren't covered by any of those there's a thing called "associate membership" where members of the public who are over 18 can join.

Hope that helps. If you can't join then you can still ask us for advice about airsoft and find out when we are going to skirmishes so if you plan on going there that you know we'll be there.

I know it's been a while since you posted but were you interested in joining?
We've been approved by insurers and can sign on members now. We won't have our first official game until january or february but some of the lads are going to games over the hols if you want to meet them at venues.

As I've said before, you don't have to be a student to join. Tough luck on that timing though :p:)

I think we're the first group of people to try and it's gone pretty well in terms of the official process. A couple of steps left but we'll get there. :D
