    Hi,
Has anyone had the problem with the tv not recognising that there was a upc box connected via hdmi cable? The tv would display a message saying "no signal" and the tv has to be turned off and on several times before operating correctly.

Its a fairly common problem; theres a biggish thread about it on this forum somewhere going back not so long ago.

You are correct that it is a hdmi handshake problem

The problem lies in the software in the cisco hd box

The Workaround is a pain in the arse and doesnt alway work

After nearly a year of trying i had to just change to scart lead and get rid of my hdmi cables

The wife was pulling her hair out and mine trying to switch the damn tv on when i wasnt there.

    Hi All,
Thanks for your replies. Through trial and error have found the following solution..... not ideal but just about tolerable:
Turn on the tv first ( upc box still in standbi ). wait for tv to display message " no signal ". Then, and only after receiving the " no signal message " turn on the UPC box and pictiure ok.
