Advice needed on booking holiday to Lapland

    Hi all.

I'm planning on booking a three day package holiday, maybe 4 day's to Lapland for December this week for me and my daughter, she is 4 years old...to be 5 in December.

I am looking for advice on the best company/agent to book with, taking into consideration value for money i.e the activities involved in the trip, suitability for young children, friendliness & hospitality of the staff/guides in general, and price, although this would be one of the minor factors in deciding as enjoyment of the tour is much more important.

If anyone can provide any insight of their experiences or has any knowledge about holidays to lapland and there experience with booking agent and travel agent your input is appreciated and please comment as I need as much feedback as I can get.

    Thank you in advance.:)

    Rgds,
    Kyle

I am a travel agent, and you have lots of options on booking your next holiday to Lapland. Many of the holidays now available will take you on a guided journey through neighboring countries including your destination. If you are going in the near future, it will be fun for a child to celebrate something like Christmas in another country. You can contact me if you like if you have more questions, and I can also work with you to flesh out a few ideas. Just send a message to info (at) washingtononstage.com.

    Hi!
Cant comment on ready packege holidays but been to Lapland perhaps 100 times. When you say Lapland I assume you mean northern Finland, you might be flying to Rovaniemi or Kittila? I doubt they have organized tours to Swedens side from here. Regardless of where you fly, 3-4 days should be enough to see and experince plenty of things with your daughter. Lapland is brilliant, lucky you!

What they usually do on these package holidays is surely pretty much what you want to do. Couple of absolutely must-do's are the santa visit near rovaniemi at the santa headquarters, reindeer- and husky ride and genereal mocking around in the snow:D When picking your travel agency make sure they provide winter gear for you and your daughter, so you dont need to bring your own. Dont worry about wearing those daft looking overalls they give all the tourist, it's actually the done thing there! Plus you really need them!

Most of the packages I guess are all-inclusive so you dont have to worry about finding restaurants or going shopping in supermarkets. Most the tour organizers have pretty decent menus including pretty good options for kids too. Some kids get upset when they realize the meat they are eating is actually reindeer, so watch out for that if your daughter loves rudolph:D

If you have any questions about lapland I'll be more than happy to help:) enjoy your hols!

Hiya, just something for you to consider - we have gone twice to Finland, but we chose to go for a week and went once with Crystal Ski Uk and Inghams UK, you can fly out of Manchester, Bristol or Gatwick. We went for a week as we didnt want to be rushed doing all the Santa stuff and also the Husky dog trips, ice fishing and of course skiing ! We actually went to Ruka - the santa trip was amazing that Crystal organised, it was just us and another family we travelled with - we had to find Santa's house in the forest, and after 15 minutes walking we came across an elf who showed us the way and we were met by Mrs Claus, who brought us in, she made cookies with the children and then Santa arrived and we all had the freshly made cookies and hot chocolate. It was just fab, no rush. It was a bit of a pain to fly over to the UK, but price wise it worked out only fractionally more expensive than the 4 day trips and would recommend you look at Inghams etc, a friend of ours also used a company called Espirit and she thought they were great.
