Can I drive a Freesat and Sky box from a single dish?

I have a standard SKY+ setup and I would like to add a Freesat box....maybe eventually retire SKY if it all goes well.

I presume there is a quad LNB on the Sky dish so there will be 2 spare connections. Do I just need to drop 2 cables to the Freesat box from the dish and then both systems will work independently?

Alternatively, is there any kind of switch that I could use the existing coax cables with that would allow me to manually switch between the 2 boxes.
A bit messy but it would save me going up on the roof....

    Thanks.

You'll just need to run a cable from one of the spare lnb connections. If its a standard freesat box then 1 cable run is ample.

    Thanks for that.

I will want to record while watching something else like I can on Sky so I think I will need two cables.

Any ideas on some kind of switch box that would let me choose which box is active at any time? Any such thing?

If you want to record the freesat signal, then you will have to get a freesat pvr or similar. There's plenty of advice here on which is the best box to get. Also note that you will lose the "record" function if/when you ditch Sky.

Thanks. I understand all that but what I am asking is whether there is a means to switch the two coax signals between the boxes. I intend to keep Sky for a while...until I am confident that the Freesat box meets our needs.
