Did it end up being peaceful as intended or was there trouble?

I was there for most of it and it was totally peaceful. No one tried to start anything. I left before the very end though so can't say for sure.

    Nice shots both of ye.

Was planning to head up. Was expecting it to end in mayhem. Were the Public Order Unit around at all?

Kinda glad I didn't head up now. I'd have thought that after last weeks efforts and with what's happening in London, there'd be murders for sure.

Nice shots - you caught the mood.

Anyone want to guess how many of those people will be needing the Guards help for something or other in the next few years? :D

    nice shots lads

I doubt many of them are against the Gardai as a whole but rather the unnecessary force used at the last protest.

Just figured, seen as the whole idea behind the protest was 'garda brutality', being organised so soon after the last one, and with London taking a hammering, they would have been there anyway, just incase.

Fair point. I am sure most of the students are fine but there are 2 sides to this and not all our Gardái are "bad".

Do ya ever get any of students vomiting in people front gardens on their way home? Or Peeing in the street?

    Some Nice shots here B.T.W

Funny you should say this but some Union head boss was saying the same about the Gardai and when they may need the people to support them!

Thats the right hand side of the protest outside Pearse st cop shop, there is the middle and the left to add in to the total, word has it it was 650+ I assumed from my counting skills it was 800-1000
Not bad for a midweek march in the pissing rain!

Because I had no flash I also missed many shots in places not so well lit up and I also struggled with low shutter speeds and blur.(so if there had've been any scuffles they woulda just been blurred!)
It's too easy to say no flash is romantic.

Keep the photos coming - they make for interesting viewing.

I love the fact that the last one, outside Pearse st, has a Garda in the middle of the crowd and that there are a few guys just looking over at him.

The thing is, how many people protested the last time a Garda was hurt?
How many people protested the last time a Garda had to come around to their local area and clean up the mess/trouble made by someone else?
How many people protest everytime they see/hear about a law been broken?

But someone mentions making protest against the guards and a 1,000 people show up. And some cover their faces - why? Isn't it a peaceful protest?

I know I'm starting to rant, and I'll stop now :D , but its just a personal gripe of mine. :p

(Next I'll be seen outside Pearse St with a sign - Protesting the protest ;) )

I'd say you were kicking yourself at times! :D

Still though, fair play, you got some great shots. And a bit of blur in a protest adds atmosphere - IMHO.
