In all the hullaballo about Kinect and CoD, the big release of the week kind of got lost amidst all the hype: the first home console Cave game released in Europe for some time :)

It isn't a new game, though. Originally released in 1999, Guwange is typical Cave (read: hundreds, nay, thousands of bullets vs you) with some welcome twists, such as environmental obstacles. Haven't had much time to play it yet, but it seems to be extremely solid stuff. Obviously, it is going to destroy you many times over (the 'final' form of the last boss is cruel and unusual even by Cave standards). But there are loads of modes, some crazily imaginative bosses - wait til you see some of the weird creatures you'll be fighting - and the weird joy that only bullet hell can provide.

Not for everyone by any stretch, and there ain't no handholding here. But at 800 points (!) this is a great value intro to a great genre. I've paid far more than that for Cave games in the past, and they've been worth every cent.
