Hi martykk, the PM system is personal messaging,if you click on the user name to the left of the screen of the person you can contact a user privately without having to post up your email address which may leave yourself open to spam in the future.

No worries. Any new forum user should familiarise themselves with the forum charter though before posting:

That way most conflicts can be avoided. Also note that each forum has its own charter and set of rules. So, for example the do's and don't's of the collectibles and antiques forum may be different to those of the motoring forum etc.

You need to sort the coins out first between

Sterling pre 1921 they have 90% silver content

    Sterling 1921 to 1946 50% silver content

sterling 1947 +, no silver content

Weigh pre 1921 in ounces then divide by 437/480 to achieve troy ounce value. Apply 90% content to the troy ounce weight to calculate silver content.

Do the same with 1921 to 1946 with a 50% multiplier.

Check the spot rate for silver to give you a theoretical value. that is the maximum value you will achieve. A coin dealer will only give you a fraction of that, maybe 15%, unless the coins are in perfect uncirculated condition.

Alternative is to offer on adverts.ie or some other forum. Best you will get on internet forums is c70% gross

You didn't mention you had Irish coins in your OP, what exactly do you have in Irish that he offered 27 Euro for them?

There's about 50 or so shilling and mostly 2 shilling coins from earliest 1928 to 41.....admittedly there's obvious wear in alot of them but I dunno thought they'd be worth quite a bit more than 27 quid
