Definition of Rudeness

I think I've come up for a good definition of what's pereceived as rude by the general consensus of a group of people.

If one person does or says anything that adds more bad to emotions to the overall group than good emotions they will be deemed to be rude by the group and must suffer the consequences of being a rude person. eg the group can ignore the rude person without themselves being rude.

People often make comments in a group that are often highly offensive to another individual in the group but because it was so dam funny the group does not deem that person to be rude ( I prefer the term social violater, but rude will do).

So, the whole idea of rudeness, I believe is to maximise the good emotions/feelings of the group. Thats why you can get away with blatantly bullying people without being rude.

Challenges to this concept are encouraged. Just don't be rude.

Only 36,000 more words to go and you can name your own dictionary.

To me, the definition of rudeness is telling a priest that you bet he enjoys looking at young boys running around in shorts. And that he's sitting there imagining what they'd look like without shorts on, with a huge smile on his face.

Only a very rude man would say that.

A rude person contravenes social etiquette wilfully.

I agree with you. It's kind of like how it's almost acceptable to say anything as long as you hide behind innuendo but being blunt even on the smallest of things can cause offence.

Eh, it's all right, but you're no Scanlas the First, now he could do definitions. Sorry don't mean to be rude.
