That is amazing! I looooove Scalextric, was so annoyed that I was never allowed get a set for Christmas. Parents drew the line at lego, they thought I'd become a lesbian or something if I got a racing set as well.

I like how the article mentions that he is unmarried twice. I'd marry him just to be allowed play in his basement. He's like the anti-Fritzl.

I would rather have a hovercraft with mounted machine guns made out of mechano but I'd settle for this.

The only person I can think of that wouldn't like this in they're house is some one with a Scalextric phobia. Then it would be a nightmare.

WOW! Scalextric is something i always wanted to get into too, but like an earlier post, Santa drew the line at Lego!

...Now I have an 8 year old! And we recently saw James May and that documentry about the 3 mile scalextric track around where an old race track used to be!!!.... And i'm having bad (or good!) thoughts... now i just need the money :D

Just needs micro-cameras on the cars for exciting home-tv viewing.
Plus some plastic explosives for realistic crashes.

    An amazing track!

There is a small scalextric racing scene here in Dublin which is crying out for a few more regulars (some nights we barely have enough people to hold a proper race).

Here is a link to our section on slotforum.com : http://www.slotforum.com/forums/index.php?showforum=156

At the moment we are using 2 tracks similar in concept to the stunning one this thread is the subject of, but nothing like as impressive! (Oddly enough my wife objects to the idea of filling the whole living room with a track? LOL!).

If anyone is keen to try out slot car racing with a group who don't take it too seriously then send me a PM!

I couldn't be arsed having to run around putting those stupid little cars on the stupid track every 30 seconds. It would be as bad as watching live Formula one. What a rubbish sport.

The trick was to just put the car trigger on about 60% and leave your finger there for the whole race (or so my Da told me anyway). Your car will smoothly race around whilst everyone else is firing off the track like Dukes of Hazzard or something.

Meh, it's only a very small step up from a train set if you ask me. It would amuse me for a half an hour, that's about it!
