Very Load Noise From Heating/Pump

    Hi there

Looking for some advice. There is an extremely load noise (like whistling) coming from the pump area, its so loud it probably wakes the neighbours! so just have to turn off heating to stop it. I have condensing boiler 3 yrs old, a new pump was fitted about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs ago, also i think an expansion tank was fitted (small tank beside cylinder), its was serviced about 9 months ago but I am pretty sure the serviceman did not check or go near the pump would this be right?

Any ideas what could cause this noise, the pump is resting quite near to the floorboards not sure if that makes a difference.
I would just like a bit of advise before I get someone out and they tell the pump needs replaced unnecessarily

    Thanks any help appreciated

Which way is the impeller on the pump sitting. Any chance of a pic, might be overheating.

Couple of things to look at.

Sounds like pump may have air in it. Open the screw on the front of the pump. Release any air, little water may come out.

Pump may be cavitating ( not enough water)
Check pressure gauge/ make sure you have water in system.
Top up system from filling loop/ pressure regulating valve.

Sorry to say pump may be on its way out.
If you already replaced the pump, you may have a inherent problem in the system.
There could be a build up of corrosion/sludge.
Get the system cleaned and filled with inhibitor then fit a new pump.

    Re Boiler servicing.
Unfortunatley many service guys just service the boiler and do not look at the heating system.
If the pump is not part of the boiler they would not inspect it.

Thanks for that reply very helpful indeed going to try bleed pump and rads tonight as sugguested see if that works as temporary measure. Should arrange a service in the next couple of months, I will look for a more thorough job, any idea what I should pay for a full service which will include testing pump etc?

    Thanks again
