Public debates - regulation needed?

Was watching Vincent the legend Browne show the other night with the Donegal SW candidates.

McBrearty reminded me of the frustration I feel every time there's an election. Obnoxious politicians behaving with a 16 year old loudest person wins attitude.

McBrearty kept interrupting others without justification and made snide remarks after he was told to be quiet.

This behaviour ruins debates, lets people get off the hook on the crucial issues because being loud they sidestep the real issue. Michael Martin's terrible for this kind of thing

Should the hosts have the option to dismiss politicians from the show if they cannot control themselves and behave in a civil mature manner?

They should simply tell the sound crew to turn down the mics of those who repeatedly do that. I did see McBrearty, and he was ridiculous. But he was behaving no differently to the majority of FF politicians, who repeatedly talk over other guests. Vincent Browne is one of the few people who pulls people up on this. The majority of RTE presenters, sadly, will not aggressively manage disruptive guests. This behaviour on the part of RTE presenters is even more evident when the delinquent guests are government ministers.

TBH its the lack of forthright answers that bothers me the most. Irish politicians just can't answer anything without making it as vague as possible. If one of them was asked if tomorrow was Monday, we'd get a 5 minute speech about potatoes. I seriously wish the presenters (both on tv and radio) would pull them up on it, however to date, I've only seen one or two presenters do it and rarely more than a limited reminder to stick to the point. I've never seen a politician slapped down for that kind of behavior in Ireland.. Which is unfortunate. I have seen it happen in other countries though, and frankly its worth doing.
