Final Year Repeats

As my user name suggests I'm a Final Year student who is getting very stressed out. I'm in the Engineering and Informatics faculty although I would rather not say what course because I would prefer to remain anonymous. I'm really struggling this year. Work is piling up and I don’t seem to be making any progress. I'm already fairly sure I'm going to fail at least two exams. Anyways are there repeat exams in August for final year students? I've already got conflicting answers which has left me unsure. Is it a case that you can sit repeats but you only get a pass degree?

hey i know in ucc there is repeats but it is capped at 40 per cent so it

depends on how many you repeats you would have if it would affect your

degree average. Final year is stressful maybe you could discuss your anxiety with classmates and form study groups?? I'm sure they are just as stressed!! A problem shared and all that.. it may help

They could be capped at 40 but most courses don't give you a final grade based solely on your final year, although it would rape your average I guess. Pretty sure you can repeat though.

I think I read something about if you repeated any modules in final year, you would only be awarded a "pass" grade. That was for BSc. I think...

It's a pretty stupid system with a billion different clauses and sub-clauses etc. so I could see how people would be confused. Why don't they just give you your final average and feck off with all this honours 1-1, 2-1, 2-2, 2-sub2-partial8, etc.

Like who the hell came up with E+ ?

Read the marks and standards section for your course and try make some sense of it. On the other hand, they often make up new rules while they're converting your numeric grade into an applicable-to-honours system grade and arghhh... :pac:

I'm sorry to tell you but there are no repeats in final year engineering. Only in extreme cases (sickness/family deaths etc.) If you get under 20% in an exam you automatically fail the year and have to repeat it next year, although no matter what % you get that year you still only come out with a pass degree.

PM me if you want any more info. Also if you do PM let me know what type of engineering it is as I may be able to give you some pointers, I was in a position much like yours not too long ago and it ended up fine.

I can confirm what the previous poster has said, you can compensate exams as long as you get above 20, but there are no repeats.
