Ion 720p/1080p stuttering over hdmi

Trying to play 720 and 1080p on my 1201N on my Samsung 40" via HDMI, but the performance is dreadful, stuttering badly and unwatchable. Plays the files natively on the laptop perfectly fine. Any ideas? Latest flash/nvidia drivers.
