Anyone know of anywhere (preferably close to cork) that repair microphones? . . The Mic in question is an AKG C418

Nobody does general mic repairs, except for a small number of specialists in the UK. Mic repairs are done by the manufacturer, because it's so specialised.

Normally I would say send it back to AKG, but for the lowly C418 I don't think it's worth it. That is an electret condenser, the most likely fault is that the capsule has failed, less likely the transistor. Probably all surface mounted.

So I think it's safe to say that buying a new mic would be more economical. No harm in phoning up their UK repair centre and getting a quote though.
