I'm going to Berlin for a few days in January (10-14) and hope to do some sight seeing and also go out at night. What sort of clothes and footwear would I need to bring?

Mods, feel free to move this to Fashion and Appearance if this is the wrong forum for this.

berlin is cold in january, and there will be a high chance of packed snow on the ground. the day time temperatures be below freezing so gloves, scarves, heavy coat, something heavy underneath the coat, hat, boots

Yep, warm clothes is a must, it will be freezing cold, after spending the last 11 (and counting) Januaries in Berlin, all I can say don't forget the woolies, last year was exceptionally cold (-23 degrees) and this Winter is forcasted to be equally cold (if not colder)

forecasts beyond a week are scientifically suspect to the point of verging on nonsense so don't believe any thing like that.

OK, suffice to say it will be cold then ;)

but yeah, as Black Briar said, check a day or two before you go, that's your best bet

It doesn't rain much in Berlin but it will be freezin !
I was there 3 weeks ago and it was cold so pack all your woolies.

It's an amazing city with so much to see and do.
We stayed the 'Hotel Berlin' and it's a fabulous hotel for the price we paid.
It's in the middle of the east and west sides of the city so a perfect location for both shopping and sightseeing.

it's going to be uber cold.

Make sure to jump on the S-Bahn to Potsdam to see Sancussi, it's about 25 minutes out of Berlin and well worth it.
