    Hi guys,

Just a quick query on changing from standard to xexon lights: is it a requirement to have headlight water-washers when changing to these bulbs? i.e. will it fail the NCT if there are no headlights washers fitted?

Furthermore- any recommendations for best value on sourcing these bulbs?

    Thanks,
    Veloce

what do you mean do you need water washers for them? get them on ebay. i can recommend a company called london colour, bought two of their sets for 70 euro delivered and they are great quality. simple to fit to it takes about 10mins, although i had to get adaptors for xenons to fit my astra

what car have you got OP?
xenon conversions are only suited to projector style headlamps as to properly reflect the light without blinding other drivers.

my lights are reflectors but i have them aligned perfectly, never been flashed and dont blind other drivers.

they can work in some reflectors, but are very limited imo.
would like to see a pic of them to have a gander :)

    what car you got?

04 astra older model. they look really nice cos the whole headlight is illuminated :) they cant be any worse for blinding people than half the people who have normal lights that are aimed up in the air!

Thats a crap attitude to have - Some people have bad lights so might as well join them.
With a proper xenon light setup, It is a requirement to have self leveling lights and I think washers.
What you are doing is not a proper setup and really shouldnt be fitted at all as they do dazzle

    But not a NCT requirement.

NCT rules only have alignment and minimum brightness, no mention of scatter

My car and the OH's have these aftermarket xenon bulb in non-projector type headlights, passed NCT no bother in the last few months

These are UK requirements for HIDs and are the standards for factory fit. There are no special requirements here AFAIK and no special NCT tests for HIDs over and above regular lights.
