Just in the door and I turned on my UPC HD box and on the front it came up x% N Loading then when it got to 70% it changed to Installing.

Since then the box wont switch on it starts loading >>>> then the screen goes blank with just the red light on. It wont turn on even after pulling the plug and rebooting ?

Anybody else get this update ? Is my box f****d ?

    Neon

I got the update tonight on my HD box, and must say, it's a nice upgrade with quite a few new handy features, worked fine for me.

After waiting 20 minutes it just came back on. Thanks for the reply.

What are the new features that you've found ?

Just spotted one...you can now see what is coming on beyond what is on now and next from the small pop up window..

    Nice.

    - Ability to skip forward 30 seconds or back 30 seconds instantly whilst playing back recording programme by pressing left or right. The amount of time it skips forward or back can be altered in the settings. Makes cutting out adverts etc much quicker.
    - If pausing something, and play again and are a bit behind live and press a button to change channel, it now warns you you are not watching live and will lose any content by changing channel and asks you to confirm.
    - You can now scroll through the whole day in the mini guide by pressing down, rather than now and next
    - When you are recording something, and using the mini guide a small graphic shows you that you are recording something and what channel.
    - There seems to be new functionality to order the movie channels if not already subscribed by inputting your PIN (May work for others too)
    - When you hit record it asks you what time you want to finish along with current time.
    - My Recorded Programs shows if you have already watched the programme with a green eye.
    - Planner and my recordings now show page numbers
    - Power saving features now in the settings menu.

May be more but these are the ones I've spotted.

Interesting updates - are they likely to come to the non-HD Digital+ boxes too? (eg silver Thomson)

There was a small black line on the right of the screen when in 1080i this update has fixed it.:)

One more thing when you scroll fully through the mini guide some of the listings did not load properly this has now been fixed.

I have to say this has been a pretty good update now just fix the main guide UPC please.

The bug where sometimes if you pressed across to more showings in the guide it would kick you out and back to the channel you were last viewing seems fixed now also.

Another annoying bug when if you pressed back up whilst the guide was loading, the guide would keep turning itself off and on in an infinite loop seems to be gone also.

Noticed fast forwarding and rewinding also seems much smoother on recorded HD channels as well, as sometimes the picture would scramble before but now does not.

This update has done a lot as regards the main guide I have to say I think they should roll back to the old one.

I got this update today but all my recordings disappeared!!

I tried to record something this evening to see if it was working - even though at the time, it did appear to be recording, it hasn't gone into my recordings

Is anyone else having similar problems? I am seriously pissed off at losing everything I had recorded!

The UPC website now has an option to subscribe to PPV events in the television section. Nothing else major though.

that seems to be an issue with your box, I recorded a couple of programmes since the box updated and there was no issue with either.

One other thing I noticed is that recordings seem to take up less space, my box was at 75% yesterday and now it's at 88% capacity.

I think the new update is very good indeed. It's great the miniguide can now go through the complete listing for a channel. Also good about the extra forwarding/rewinding option. I also like the fact that the set top will warn you you're about to lose non live content if you switch channels.
    It's a good step forward.

Other new features include taking up to 30 minutes to load the EPG, removing the recording overlap notifications, and the ability to read your mind, see which recording you would prefer to have and then record the other one instead.

None of that happens on my box since the update.

I'm not finding these problems either. The record overlap warning is definitely in place still and the epg isn't any slower to load.

You should get on to them and complain if you're having these problems.

The new mini guide is fantastic btw. If I remember correctly Sky does not give you the ability to look through several hours of programing on a channel you are not on and set recordings for later hours for these channels from the channel that you're watching.

Overall a good step forward. Its a pity to lose the bookmark feature on the green button but using the < and > is probably more useful.
