Yesterday, after 23 years of trying.

71 Gross (-1) at Beaverstown yesterday
    Best before that was +2

    Should have been a 70,
    3 putted the 18th

Guess time will tell if it was a flash in the pan

Good man, a real barrier to break through, should make the next time easier to bring home a good score. My best is one over par, but a good two putt on the last!! Would love to shoot level par, or better, but a long way off with young kids and once a month golf.

hang in there, it will come.
if you can shoot +2 you have a sub-par round in you.

Yeah, c'mon, talk us through the round... Playing tomorrow (hc, 16) and if I finish +16 I'll be f**king ecstatic! :)

Well done. Beaverstown is a difficult enough course - great greens. You won't be 'cut' if there was placing in the rough. Not to worry, you're time will come next March.:D

there are probably some begrudgers out there who will claim it's not valid as there was placing everywhere....I of course am not one of them

(jealous begrudgery is the best kind!!!)

    well done - great achievement

    Okay, if you insist ;)

    13 pars
    3 birdies (9, 11 & 13)
    2 bogies (6 & 18)

    Level par after 9
-2 playing 18th, Slightly gutted not to par 18, 3 putt bogey

Putting for birdie on 15 holes, can't remember that happening before either.

Playing again on Saturday, hopfully keep the run going.

18 is easily bogey'd though. That hole and the 16th have ruined a couple of medals for me in Beaverstown. Still though, of all the courses I've played in North Dublin it's the best and the craic in the clubhouse is second to none.

    Yours etc,
    GSH.

Well done OP. Terrific stuff. Don't reckon I'll ever see it. Only broke 80 for first time last year.

Keep up the good work. Now that you've done it, more will follow.

Great shooting there. I shot my first under par round in competition this year 2010. 3 under, birdied 16,17 and 18. Was savage.

    That's some going!

In the President's Prize I birdied 15, 16 and 17, then hit it to 6 foot on 18 and lipped out... only to lose out on the back 9! And it was to do a Captain's / President's Prize double in the same year! Will never forget it :)

Well done OP - great score!

There have been times in the past I thought I was in the zone until this round. I have never felt so calm on the golf course. It was like I knew that it was going to happen so there was no need to worry. When I was on the green The only thing i could see was the hole, Its a once in a lifetime round maybe for a 5 handicapper. Hope to get to 4 hcap this year.
