Well I had that problem too but I believe the thing is to try uninstall and reinstall it -and maybe run a cleaner like CCCleaner in between attempts...Im getting 500kb/s to 1.7meg download speed now and it STILL says it will take 4 hours to install!Like what the hell are they selling the thing on dvd hard copy for ?May as well be digital download...

I would have only it's 45 in HMV as opposed to 60 on steam.

I installed it by disk and it only installed 98% of the game, Steam is downloading the rest at 2.7kb/s, it is gonna take 40 minutes to download 2% of a game.

How did you install it well 98% of it from disk? Only option is to install via Steam.

Yeah HMV for 45 (on PC) here too ...so will it be more like the multiplayer setup on previous COD games ('dedicated servers')?That MW2 2 minute interval between 10 min games eventually drove me back to MW1 -better pings too...

I've not used Steam in ages but 60 euros when the game is 40 in Game?
I always thought Steam were cheaper!!
    Glad I didn't order it.

Er... it installs it to Steam from the disk (like the Orange Box)?

I was in the same situation as frantic, although I was downloading the last 2% at 150KB/sec, approximately. Just exited Steam, popped in the disc, let the installer restart Steam and it went through the usual Steam game installation windows, and the disc install was done in 10mins

The damn thing started to download the entire game from the internet despite me having the stupid DVD. I found a fix on the steam forums and now it's installing properly from the disc.

If anyone has the same issue try this.
    This worked for me;

    - Remove any installed stuff that Steam had downloaded.
    - Stop any downloads (you might want to close your internet connection)
    - Right click on Call of Duty Black Ops Multiplayer
    - Select "Delete local game content"
    - Same for the Single player
    - Close Steam (EXIT Steam)
    - Plug in your internet again
    - Press the Windows-key + R (to Run something)
    - Write (with quotes): "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install H:

Replace the Steam-folder with your installation folder of Steam (where Steam.exe is) and replace H: with your DVD drive.

    That worked for me.

If you run setup.exe it installs from the disk, just transfers the files to Steam.... Was the same with MW2, took me 5 mins to get it (98% of it).

Didn't install from disk, was attempting to install via download with an estimated time of 6 hours. FFS.

If i buy this off direct2drive for $60 I presume it still uses Steam? (It says third party software required) This begs the question though, why pay €60 instead of $60?

$60 is about €45 now, but when the exchange rate may have been different when the prices were been made. In the past, there was a gap of only €5 between the shop price and the online price, and it was roughly the same once.

Funny I bought mine retail. Was no way in earth getting it off steam the RIP OFF ****S!!!!

Installed mine at 1am launch night, installed majority of the game from disc and then the rest from steam. Took about 15 mins in total, dont know others ar having an issue. Maybe I was lucky to install it so soon after launch rather then wait till next day.
