We live in whitehall and our bins were not collected for some reason. Now we have a black bin full to the brim and no space for more bags. It is going to be 2 weeks before the next collection and I cant leave the rubbish sitting there. I have called Dublin County council and im getting nowhere. Anybody know if there is anything we can do as in drop the bins off somewhere or any other suggestions. Thanks

First of all, just getting rid of waste is a really bad idea.

Glass jars, just wash them out and bring them to a recycling site.
Same with food tins. Paper and cardboard can be also brought to your local recycling centre. As can used up light bulbs, waste cooking oil and plastic bottles, metal items, wooden items such as old furniture can also be brought along.
Entry to a recycling site is around €3 I usually go about every two months with a carfull of my recycling.

The biggest problem is plastic recycling, nobody wants to deal with it.

Some chap on here the other day mentioned that you can one-third fill the container with fresh water, shake it and then repeat it another two times and then dispose of it as normal recyclable waste. Apparently it's an IFA approved method.

    Here's the DEFRA one:

Thanks, what would you do if you still have a quantity of banned pesticide in the packaging which can happen were you have purchased it when it wasn't banned but haven't finished your stockpile when it gets banned?

Good question. I assume you're talking about Paraquat?
Phone your local pharmacy or vet and ask. These guys have safe disposal systems for chemicals, or might be able to advise who can handle that.

Or if they cannot help, try the local CoCo waste division.
