Travelling with only carry on.

The few times in life where I nearly wish I was male. So packing would involve throwing in an extra shirt and buying razors in the airport at the far end. When was the last time you travelling with only carry on? How did you decide what to bring?

Serious question: Is 100ml still the limit on liquids? And it's ok to bring as many 100ml bottles as you like or is there a limit? Foundation + day/night cream + hair serum etc.

    My make-up remover is 250ml =(

Wipes dry out my skin. Grr to airports!

Makes packing so difficult! I have to look for a handbag that will fit in the bag...

    :(

It's easy tbh, the missus and myself never have a problem.

Different story if it was NY or something similar.

I generally travel very light, so shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, toothpaste, deoderant, moisturiser, sunscreen and maybe foundation and that's about it.

Sorry can't help on the limits of what you can bring. Check the website of your airline - I suspect they could differ.

If you're thinking of buying a new handbag though, and all those little containers etc. might be worth considering paying for an extra bag and just putting everything you want in the hold of the plane instead (unless of course you want an excuse to buy a new handbag);) . Depends how much stuff you normally bring. The other option is to buy some of those mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner etc. - slightly more expensive per volume but at you'll use them all up at some stange anyway.

    Happy hols!

How long're you going for? I always travel with carry on, 100ml of anything is generally enough for a holiday and if you're going for a long while it's probably worth while to buy shampoo and toothpaste and stuff in a supermarket. The limit is a litre I think altogether. It's really doable, 10kg is a surprisingly large amount of stuff and you only have to put your handbag in your bag if it's Ryanair. With AerLingus I always put my novels and stuff in my handbag and never had a problem with having both.

The limit is as follows: 100ml per individual container. All containers together have to be in a resealable, clear plastic bag whose volume does not exceed 1 liter. So, realistically, you can squeeze maybe about 500ml-600ml total in there in a bunch of containers.

The strictness with which this is enforced varies. Sometimes they do not even look. Other times they make people throw out toothpaste with 125ml. It is not really worth taking a risk.

I personally have little travel bottles, 50ml each, and just refill those before each trip.

Penneys used to sell a clear plastic wash bag which had 10 clear plastic 100ml bottles in it for putting your different things in for travelling. Have a look near the checkout where the gifts are they might still do them. If you dont find it look online. Like here: http://www.organizeit.com/poclearqrtcarryon.asp?cmpid=gbase

Also unless your travelling to Hong Kong most destinations are cheaper than Ireland to buy stuff.

How about a facecloth?!.. and how long are you going for?, I have often travelled for 3 or 4 nights with just a carry on with absolutely no problem at all and have had room to carry stuff back!.. I just use the facecloth that the hotel provides, bring a small (sample size) moisturiser, and just use the shampoos and body washes provided by the hotel.. your hair and face will cope for the few days!.. :) and I would agree with the poster who mentioned two carry on bags with aer lingus - I have often had 3 or 4 carry on bags with them (small case, handbag, crap bought in shops!) and there was no problem at all.. but don't even think about it with Ryanair!..

I only ever travel with a carry on. Absolutely hate lugging a big bag around.
Most toiletries can be bought when you arrive.
You can purchase small containers and just put enough makeup or whatever you need to bring in those.
Clothing can be hand washed if you are going for a few weeks, thus cutting down on the amount you need to bring.

Ryanair won't allow a handbag, no matter how small it is.
AreLingus will allow one. At least, they have never stopped me.
