Nokia car kit....new phone!

So when I bought my car it had a Nokia kit fitted, wired into the old stereo, but it was for an old Nokia phone! I had it disconnected from the old stereo wiring and put the cradle in at the back of the head unit.
I've been thinking though, been as all the parts are there and I'm assuming in working order could I get a new cradle for my current Nokia phone and cut and solder the new wires to the old ones? Provided it was connected to the stereo!

    Thanks Guys!

Cradles are a thing of the past op. Its all Bluetooth now. Go way a get a Parrot kit. Nokia kits are usless anyway.

Not overly inmpressed by parrot either.

There are a few vans in our place with them and they are poor enough.

    Sound is crap in mine.

Bro has on in the company car and it gives him trouble.

I think its a shame that cradles have been phased out. It was fierce handy to sit in and pop the phone into the cradle. It charged it, held it in a good spot for using and of course connected to the car kit.

+1 and the exterior antenna for better reception and less radiation coming of the phone..

cradles arent dead yet, carcomm (sold through expansys) make cradles for newer phones, they even make a cradle for the iphone. currently my iphone connects to my car kit (built into the stereo) over bluetooth but still connects to its usb port over the cradle, so my phone charges and plays music through the stereo while in the car. I dont like fiddling with cables in the car and cradles are dead handy

THB Bury have a charging cradle for most phones mind you they are quiet bulky
Nokia's newer kits are good CK100 basic functions
Ck200 latest kit that can have 2 phoes paired at once
But parrot is definetly the biggest seller either CK3100 or MKi9200
