I would LOVE to do this. Shame it falls before the DCM and not after otherwise I'd do it next year.

Edit: I do mean the event in October not the other two.

Im doing this. My third winter. I never pay the overseas supplement, it means you get to stay in a barn and they arent much cop, and you probably get bumped up to a higher squad which may not make much difference if youre in wetnecks anyway. Just pay the regular fee.

we just paid the regular fee too. I wouldn't fancy staying in the barn, get a hotel and travel in that morning.

We got stuck in traffic for the race, ended up starting it an hour after the official start which meant we got stuck in heavy traffic at some of the obstacles, like the walls! So try get there early enough on the day.

Can't say I'm too sad that I'm back out in Korea for this years event which means I can't even consider it.

    Lightweight. :D

My best memory of the event was racing up the road to the start, having abandoned the car, with 6 or 7 gladiators in red capes running in front of me. Very Mad Max meets Russell Crowe.

we rented the car, I wasn't abandoning it anywhere, even if it was a matiz :o

Don't forget to jump off the log into the water this time, 3rd time's a charm :P

Why do you think I got to go back? Im paying those gladiators to pick me up and throw me off it if I look like chickening out this year. Cos this is deffo my last year!

Plenty of cardio, with tri training. Not enough weights yet, need to do more of that. But the main thing you need is the ability to not feel pain. Or cold. Or fear of heights etc. And theres damn all I can do about that. :)

ya i really dont think there is any way to prepare for the cold really, even though we used to dip in the sea last year in salthill whilst running, waste of time I reckon!

Thats my biggest problem on the day is the cold, going to have the USN competition gels with me this year, for energy and preventing the cramps that nearly finished me along the tyre run.

People swore by them last year.

Bumping this as its getting close and I wondered if anyone else had signed up? And is everyone who has ready? :)

Well oryx, ya we are pretty much set, about the same level as last year but it should do us,we are going as front runners this year to try get better times. Reckon it wont be that hard since we started in around the 6000 people mark and finished 1800th or so. How is your training going? except for Ice cold showers and buckets we have done no water work, pointless in our eyes!

Havent been training for this, specifically, and am not as strong as last year so times are out the window. Will just turn up on the day and see what happens. Did do a sea swim which did nothing for my cold water confidence. :)

ya it has been tougher this christmas to keep up the training and did miss a few scheduled ones, definately my last year doing it as everytime i thought of the ice in the morning over christmas I got a shiver and a chill that took a while to shake:o

good luck to you guys doing this. Oryx, hope you can do the jump and finally leave the event behind you.

I can't say I'm too upset that I'm in Korea and not able to do it this year. The thought of travelling around s.e asia from March, in the nice warm weather, is much more appealing :)

If I fail again Im leaving it behind anyway. But Im not going to damn well fail. :) To be honest there are many many things Id rather be doin on Sunday but ho hum. Good luck to anyone else whose gonna suffer too.

Well that was fun. The new torture chamber Mr Mouse dreamed up is pure genius. :) A few changes this year just to keep it all fresh, and plenty of ice, as usual. Oh, and I did the jump this time. :)
